Beah sees himself changing as a result of his challenges to survive. He says,
“Our innocence had been replaced by fear and we had become monsters” (55). Consider everything you know about Beah up to
this point. Freewrite one page in which you reflect on this comment and what
has happened to Beah so far. Do you agree that fear can make someone become a
monster?

yes, because Beah is forced to train know as a child. This is because the rebellins took him and separated from everyone he knew.He will fight in order to stay alive.

Yes , fear can cause anybody to do anything even become a monster, and most people do crazy things and vary dangerous things when people are afraid.
ReplyDeleteI dont believe fear makes you a monster. I mean yes it makes you do bad things but people are afraid of monsters so if your afraid then you are not the monster. What really is the monster in Beah's case is the rebels. Just because people are afraid of Beah and he is thinking differently doesn't means he is a monster. The situation he is in may change the way he thinks. this makes him become just a victim of brainwash and overexposure to evil at such a young age. He at this point then becomes emotionally unstable and starts to do things he wishes he hadn't. This is making start to think that he is the monster.
ReplyDeleteYes, fear can make you become a monster. If you have fear, then that can sometimes mean that you are rebelulas like Beah at times.
ReplyDeleteyes... because i think that everything that Beah was been through made him change a lot and fear can make someone to become a monster.The rebels is the reason that make him become a monster he can go crazy because he doesn't have anyone in his life no more and he is too young to go through all of this by himself and he thinks a lot of bad things that can happen and make him scared or afraid.

ReplyDeleteyes people are monsters but we do knot show it but in war it is a diffident life. The evil daemon comes out that is hidden deep inside that monster is to kill other people. In a situation like his hi is natural going to kill to stay alive. jeffrey
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that being exposed to fear makes you a monster. Killing people and doing bad things may just make you a defensive person. Being around dead bodies, rebels slicing and stabbing brings fear to a person but it does not make you a monster it may just bring out the stronger side of yourself. Beah had gone through so much especially as a child he may go insane, act a little out of the ordinary but the monster is really the surroundings going on around you.
ReplyDeleteI think being in a war a such a young age will make you a monster because your gonna be paranoid that everyone is out to get you. And seeing all those dead bodies and seeing your self kill people will make you monster sooner or later
