  1. About the Army ad: It told you all of the good things about joining the army, but it never mentioned how much hard work you would have to put in, or the fact that you could potentially die. Erica Johnson, Eighth hour.

  2. About the Eminem Commercial: Even though many people like Eminem, in the commercial he represents the bad part of Detroit. Many people do not like Eminem, so seeing the commercial would not make them want to buy a Chrysler.Libby, 8th Hour

  3. The Above the Influence ad is my favorite. It's really symbolic of what happens when teens, and people in general, drink alcohol: they lose sight of what really matters. However, they show everyone in the back before she walks into the bathroom having a lot of fun...Lorraine Luna, 8th hour

  4. Army Ad: I think this is a great commercial to get people to join the army. Every point it makes leads back to the fact that you're accepted and a part of something when you join. Although it doesn't contain any of the negative parts of being a soldier I believe that is a given and in order to recruit people it isn't necessary.

  5. Above the influence: I like this one the best just because it demonstrates how kids can get out of hand and all the things they love and cared about get washed away over a few drinks.

  6. Chrysler Commercial: This ad features the ghetto town of Detroit, from where the new Chrysler car is imported. The car is advertised to be very luxurious, unlike the town it is from. The commercial makes this fact seem logical, although it doesn't make sense that an expensive car would come from such an inexpensive place. Eminem is also driving the car to imply that the car can be ghetto and classy at the same time.

  7. Chrysler Commercial: I think that this is the best one. It's telling all the Americans who need the expencive and fancy cars that are made from a European car company, that we make luxury cars right here in Detroit. It says in a way that buying American cars/products will help boost our economy not the European's. I especially like the line at the end
"Imported From Detroit." - Kory Klicker 8th hour.

  8. Army Ad: This video was very well made, relating to many
different people. The people include sports
enthusiasts, those focused on academics, and those
wanting to travel. Hannah Koenig, 6th hour

  9. Chrysler commercial: Not all luxury cars come from Europe, in fact, some of them are made entirely in this country. The commercial implies a sense of nationalism associated with buying from the US. Things made in the US are also known for being tougher than products from china, and this is depicted well in the advertisement. Carson Filko, 6th

  10. Above the influence commercial: This commercial descibes what can happen from being under the influence in a way that can actually get across teenagers minds, since they can lose the things they truly love. Brooke Laskowski, 6th hr

  11. The Chrysler Commercial was made to show that the auto industry of Detroit is back on top after the economic collapse. It also show that Detroit is recovering. Also it encourages people to show that America to is capable is making cool sleek cars. The reason Eminem was in the ad was to show a real person who had there life changed from Detroit starting out from nothing and building there life up to something great. This is what are auto industry had to go through, they had to reinvent who they were so that they could once again become great.

  12. The above the influence commercial was the most relate-able to me because it has to do with a problem that many teens face. Drinking and drugs are a common thing in high school and this ad shows what you truly could be losing by not staying above the influence. Abby Straight, 6th hour :)

  13. The Chrysler commercial states the Detroit is big and tough, and has been built on the backs of its workers. The people there are hard-working and have accomplished many things. They are often underestimated, but perhaps the greatest city in America. So if its people are like that, then the cars that come from there must be too.

  14. The Above the Influence commercial: This commercial is technically very accurate (minus the part where she throws up giant solid materials :]). It also really relates to High School students. High school students are pressured into drinking and doing drugs all the time. The message of this commercial is to show us WHY it is not smart to drink and do drugs. You can throw up(away) your entire future and all of your past achievements also. The logical fallacy is that if you drink and do drugs, you will throw up all the good things of your life. which is hasty generalization i think. Alana Fuentes 6th hour

    1. The above the influence commercial is the one I can identify the most with. I have seen, and undoubtedly will see, many people ruin their lives with alcohol and tobacco. This of course appeals to pathos do to the fact that you feel sorry for the girl and you don't want that to happen to you.

  15. Army add- This add did a very good job of glorifying the United States Army. It actually kind makes me think it would be a good idea, however it says nothing of the hardships it entails. Death, discomfort, being away from home, killing, and much more.

  16. The army add demonstrates all the good that can come out of being in the Army. It shows courage, honor, a diploma, and a team: all the things that make the Army a good idea. However, it neglects to mention the bad things, like spending an extended amount of time in uncomfortable situations, far from loved ones, and the possiblity of dying in combat. Morgan Johnson, 8th Hour

  17. The Chrystler commercial: I liked this commercial because I personally thought it had the most emotional appeal and I also liked that "Imported from Detroit" idea in the commercial. Also the fact that they put Eminem in the commercial with his song gave it a cool feel as well which sold the luxury car idea.

  18. Above the Influence commercial: The commercial gives mixed messages. In the beginning, everyone in the background seems to be having a lot of fun, but then she is in the bathroom throwing up her life. I think this ad is a good/moving one because it makes people really think twice about their life and if they want to throw away everything they worked towards. Alex Plant, 6th Hour!

  19. The above the influence commercial relates to common problems, teenagers face everyday. I like that the commercial showed other effects that can comes with drugs and alcohol besides the physical effects, such as losing friends, boyfriends, and family. Madison Pauly, 6th hour

  20. The Chrystler ad shines out in the three ads, because of the overall tone it delivers with its commercial. When you saw it, even if the hardy city of Detroit scares the living daylights out of you, you couldn't help but respect what they have to deal with, and admire the cars the are able to produce. Of course, a little help from Eninem never hurts for advertising...

  21. The army ad appealed most to me. It goes on and on about how joining the army is more than just uniform, its a test, something greater, a symbol of strength. All the confident and humble faces only asserts that idea. The ad instilled a sense of pride and nationality in me.

  22. The Above the Influence commercial relates the problems most likely to happen among my age group. It shows some of the things that a person could be throwing away if they get into drugs and alcohol, and what it could be doing to their life.

  23. Symbol of Strength
This advertisement for the U.S military uses ad populum to inspire a sense of Patriotism in its viewers. It makes you feel patriotic just watching it, and really pulls you into the idea of joining the military. It uses the pride in patriotism in most Americans to make them join the army, and even made me think about joining.

  24. Symbol of Strength: The ad was most appealing to me out of all three. The use of heroic music in the background and specific word selection with minimum spoken words gives an appeal of grandeur. With the use of American pride, it makes me think of joining but I'm not signing up today. Taylor Kellum, 8th hour

  25. The Chrysler ad talks about how detroit is not one of the nicest cities in America, but it is because of their toughness and hardships that make them able to produce nice luxury cars.-Connor McCrory 6th hour

  26. The Army ad glorifies the army and states how awesome it is. However it doesn't say anything about all the hardships faced by the soldiers.

  28. about the above the influence ad it made it seem like drinking will ruin your life, and that ruining your life is the only thing drinking can do. It had no facts or statistics and only used pathos.
